The Parish Council has been made aware that a public consultation leaflet will be circulated this week to local residents by Bellway regarding a proposed housing scheme on green belt land east of Golborne Road.
We understand that proposed developments of this scale generate significant community interest. We want to provide immediate clarity to residents on where this proposal currently sits within the planning process and how the Parish Council is responding.
Current Status: Pre-Application Consultation
Please note that this is not a formal planning application. Bellway intends to submit an application for full planning permission later this summer.
Because a formal application has not yet been submitted to the local planning authority, there is nothing to officially object to at this point in time. The current leaflet represents the developer’s own consultation exercise to gather preliminary public opinion.
Proposal Overview
According to the materials distributed by Bellway’s representatives, the early proposals expect to:
- Deliver approximately 220 new homes, including 45% affordable housing.
- Include two new vehicular access points directly from Golborne Road.
- Provide open space, landscaping, and an enhanced buffer along the northern boundary.
The Parish Council’s Next Steps
As with previous large-scale planning proposals in our area, the Parish Council is closely monitoring this situation. We will be meticulously reviewing any formal planning material as soon as it becomes available.
To ensure the community’s voice is heard and that we have all the facts, the Council will be extending an official invitation to the developer to attend an upcoming council meeting. This will allow us to discuss the proposals in a public forum and ask direct questions on behalf of the parish.
We will continue to advise the public as and when more information is published. Once a formal planning application is submitted, the local planning authority will undertake its own statutory public consultation. At that stage, we will guide residents on how to submit formal representations or objections.
